Meghalaya Congress MLA David Nongrum passes away

Shillong, February 2: Congress MLA from Mawryngkneng Constituency, East Khasi Hills district, David Nongrum passed away here today. He was 42.

Nongrum was the son of senior Congress leader and former Assembly Speaker, Charles Pyngrope. He was first elected as an MLA in 2013 and then in 2018.

Chief Minister, Conrad Sangma has expressed his sadness at the untimely demise of the legislator. “He was a young, dynamic and vocal leader who executed an impactful tenure. My heartfelt condolences to the family in this hour of grief. May his soul rest in peace,” Sangma said in his condolence message.

Several other political leaders have sent their condolences to the bereaved family and the condolences are pouring in.
