SHILLONG, Dec 7 - National Peoples Party (NPP) is likely to move a No-Confidence Motion against Speaker AT Mondal during the three-day session of Meghalaya Assembly which commences on Friday.
In the House of 60, the Congress-led Government has the support of 44 Legislators.
So far, seven, five from Congress and two Independents, have changed sides. The NPP is banking for support on the fence-sitters who are likely to switch allegiance from Congress and also the Independents.
However, it is unlikely that the Government will face any threat despite the defections.
The Chief Minister stated that his government has the requisite numbers to defeat the motion if tabled.
However, the other two opposition parties, the United Democratic Party and Hill State Peoples Democratic Party arent too enthusiastic about such moves.
