Mega credit camp organised under PMMY

GOALPARA, Oct 2 - A district-level mega credit camp was organised here at the Gandhi Bhavan under the Pradhan Mantri Mudra Yojana (PMMY) on September 29 by the Lead Bank Office in association with other banks namely Allahabad Bank, CBI, UBI, PNB, SBI, Union Bank, UCO Bank, AGV Bank, BOI, PNB, Canara Bank, OBC, Axis Bank, ICICI Bank and HDFC.

With the focus on financially reaching out to small entrepreneurs of micro units/enterprises /small retailers/manufacturing and service enterprises in rural, semi-rural and urban areas, besides women entrepreneurs, which are now outside the banking fold, the new financial entity �Micro Units Development and Refinance Agency� (MUDRA) envisages to support two categories of products by supporting firstly, the financial intermediaries like banks, NBFCs, MFIs who are in the business of lending to lower level micro units in manufacturing, trading and services sector and secondly providing for development and financial literacy support, which includes skill development, entrepreneurship, marketing training and financial literacy.

Talking to this correspondent, SBI, Bazar branch manager, Ismile Ali said that the PMMY scheme is good initiative of the Government to assist and fund the micro entrepreneurs, who are already in the business and with the motto to �fund the unfunded�, nearly 5.77 crore micro entrepreneurs will be assisted across the country.

The loans under PMMY are classified as MUDRA loans, which will have three categories � Shishu, Kishore and Tarun � with loan value of up to Rs 50,000, Rs 50, 001 to Rs 5 lakh and from Rs 5 lakh to Rs 10 lakh respectively, Ismile Ali added.

Further, bank sources said that each of the branch heads in the district were requested to provide loans to at least 25 persons under Shishu, 10 under Kishore and 5 under Tarun respectively.

The mega camp was largely attended by young people and small entrepreneurs, including officials from the district administration and other line departments.
