GUWAHATI, Dec 19 - An important meeting on sustainable development goals (SDG) was held under the chairmanship of Dipok Kumar Barthakur, Vice Chairman, State Innovation and Transformation Aayog (SITA), in his office chamber at the Janata Bhawan here on Friday.

In the meeting, Dr JC Phukan, SDG consultant, made a power-point presentation on activities of SDG relevant to Assam and its present role in the State.

Mousumi Das, SRO, representing Transformation and Development Department, apprised that the department was in touch with the officials of World Bank to bring the framework of SDG in its final shape.

After a detailed discussion among all the members present in the meeting, a conclusion was drawn that the Transformation and Development Department should take initiative to expedite the activities of the SDGs in the State in coordination with all the development departments.

The SITA Vice Chairman observed that as Assam is one of the pioneer states in SDG activities, it is high time that it should lead from the front to achieve the goals of SDGs.

SITA advisors Dr Mridul Hazarika, Dr KM Buzarbarua and Kashi Nath Hazarika were present in the meeting and also gave their valuable suggestions.
