Meeting on naming of colleges

By The Assam Tribune

GUWAHATI, Aug 23 - The Cotton College Retired Teachers Forum (CCRTF), while expressing its concern at the intention of the Government of Assam to establish more government colleges in Assam in the name of Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya, is organising a convention to discuss the matter in greater detail in view of the strong sentiments expressed by various quarters in this regard.

The convention will be held in the seminar hall of the Historical and Antiquarium Studies near the Cotton College Old Library from 3 pm on August 25.

The CCRTF has urged the State government to pay heed to the peoples sentiments and act accordingly.

It is all right to pay respect to Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya, the ideologue of the political party in power in the State on his 100th birth anniversary, but it should not be by naming the new and the future government colleges in the State in the name of their ideologue which, if done, may be interpreted by the people of the State as an attempt to disregard the sentiments of the masses, the CCRTF said.
