Meet recalls martyrdom of Dima Hasao leaders

HAFLONG, June 5 - On the occasion of the 11th death anniversary of Purnendu Langthasa, Nindu Langthasa and Ajit Bodo, the then Chief Executive Member, Executive Member and Deputy Chairman of NC Hills Autonomous Council respectively, who sacrificed their lives in the hands of extremists on the same day, were remembered with gratitude by offering floral tributes in their memory at a reminiscential meeting held at the Rajiv Bhawan here on Monday.

Members of Dima Hasao DCC(I) and well-wishers paid floral tributes before the portraits of the departed leaders who martyred for the betterment of the people of the district.

The programme was attended, among others, by Nirmal Langthasa, Kalijay Sengyung etc along with members of the district Mahila Congress and Seva Dal.

In this connection the local unit of National Students� Union of India organised an inter-school quiz competition at the cultural institute�s auditorium where a good number of participants took part.

Ankita Nag and Mayurakshi Bhattacharjee of St Agnes bagged the first prize, while Kharingdao Hojai and Taubhik Mitra of Don Bosco and Grace Thiek and Amada Tuolor bagged the second and third prize respectively in the competition.

The prizes were subsequently given away by Nirmal Langthasa, president of Dima Hasao DCC(I) among the successful participants.
