JALUKBARI, Aug 28 - The UN Development Programme (UNDP), in consultation with the northeastern states, organised a two-day conclave on �Preparedness for sustainable development goals in NE: Integration, localisation and platforms creation� and a stakeholders� consultation on the micro, small & medium enterprises (MSME) sector in the North East here on August 27-28.
Welcoming the participants yesterday, Dr Rakesh Kumar, Additional Country Director, UNDP India, gave an insight on SDGs. Rajiv Bora, Additional Chief Secretary highlighted the need to look at social and cultural indicators to include the most marginalised communities. NITI Aayog Consultant Sundar Mishra spoke about the national-level preparedness for implementation of SDGs. He said the Aayog has identified 75 priority indicators for real-time monitoring and planning across 16 SDGs. Vanlalramsanga Chawng-thu, Secretary, Dept of Planning, Mizoram, stressed the need of involvement of the government, the community and the private and public stakeholders in the implementation of SDGs.
NC Talukdar, Director, Institute of Advanced Studies in Science & Technology, Guwahati, urged the participants to recall what our forefathers had taught us to do for sustainable development.
