Meet of parties, candidates held

KOKRAJHAR, March 31 � A meeting of all political parties and contesting candidates of the five BTC segments of Kokrajhar Sadar Subdivision was held at the DC�s conference hall this evening.

The meeting was chaired by Deputy Commissioner, Kokrajhar Thaneswar Malakar, who is also the Returning Officer of Kokrajhar. SP, Kokrajhar, Sunil Kumar, Election Observer Kalyan Mitra and other senior officers also attended the meeting.

The meeting discussed about the strict maintenance of election code of conduct and the law-and-order situation during BTC election in the district.

In the meeting, the DC emphasized that peace and communal harmony in the district be maintained at any cost. He requested the leaders present to spread the message of peace and communal harmony and extend their help and cooperation to civil and police administrations in maintaining peace, tranquillity and communal harmony in the district during polls.

Our prime objective is to ensure free and fair election and the district administration has stepped up security measures in the entire district to prevent any kind of untoward incident before and after the election, said SP, Kokrajhar Sunil Kumar.

He also informed that the district administration Kokrajhar, along with 4000 paramilitary, 2000 army and 800 SSB personnel, was trying its best to thwart any kind of subversive activities of any group in the region.
