KOKRAJHAR, Jan 1 � The Principal Secretary, AR&T, Education, Government of Assam, and the in-charge of the relief operations in Kokrajhar district, Rajiv Kumar Bora held a meeting with the DC and SP of Kokrajhar and the IGP of BTAD at the Kokrajhar DC�s conference hall here on Monday.
The meeting was also attended by Kokrajhar (East) MLA Pramila Rani Brahma, Kokrajhar (West) MLA Pradip Brahma, Gossaigaon MLA Majendra Narzary, BTC EM Derhasat Basumatary and other officers of the district administration of Kokrajhar.
The Principal Secretary gave a briefing on the measures taken to provide relief to the camp inmates and discussed the modus operandi to facilitate the return of the inmates staying in different relief camps in the district to return to their respective villages as early as possible. He also sought help and suggestions from the people�s representatives in this regard.
The MLAs and EMs appreciated the steps initiated by the district administration and assured their full support and cooperation to the efforts to encourage the return of the camp inmates to their homes.
After a threadbare discussion, it was agreed that necessary measures would be taken to facilitate the return of the families taking shelter in the camps set up by the district administration to their respective homes and villages, especially those belonging to the areas where no fresh violence has occurred and other areas not considered sensitive or vulnerable.
The meet also decided that security would be provided by the police at appropriate locations to instil confidence in the minds of the people and encourage camp inmates to return to their homes.
It was also decided that a high-level delegation consisting of MLAs, EMs, MCLAs and representatives of political parties, student organisations belonging to all communities would visit the relief camps along with officials of the district administration.
It may be mentioned here that Sri Boro who arrived here also visited different relief camps in Kokrajhar along with Deputy Commissioner, Kokrajhar Sri Thaneswar Malakar.
