Media Sports Fest begins today

GUWAHATI, May 18 � The third edition of Airtel North East Media Sports Festival will kick-start with badminton and chess competitions tomorrow. The badminton competitions for both men and women in team and individual events will be held at the Kanaklata Indoor Stadium while the chess event will be organised at the Gauhati Town Club premises.

The festival will be formally inaugurated by East Guwahati MLA Capt Robin Bordoloi at Kanaklata Indoor Stadium at 11 am. Director of Sports Sanjib Gohain Baruah, Airtel official Anjali Chittaranjan, Joint Director of Sports Anjan Sarma will also be present in the inaugural function.

Table tennis competitions will commence from May 21 at ABITA Indoor Stadium. Like wise cricket tourney will be conducted at the Judges� Field from May 22 to 24 and it will be followed by football meet at SAI ground from May 25 to 27.

Journalists from Kohima, Dimapur, Manipur, Shillong apart from local media houses will vie for titles in different events in the nine-day festival, stated a release issued by organisers Assam Sports Journalists Association.
