Measures to revive traditional Karbi music

DIPHU, Nov 22 � The Cultural Affairs department of the Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC) is taking comprehensive steps to revive and modernise the traditional music of the endogenous tribal people of Karbi Anglong.

A training-cum-workshop on traditional drum beating of the tribal people was organised jointly by the Cultural Affairs department of Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council (KAAC) and Simsere Film Production at Phuloni Harmon club auditorium hall.

On the concluding day of the workshop, a meeting was organised where Bidya Sing Ronpi EM for Art and Culture department, KAAC and Dhaneswar Ingti, joint secretary of KAAC attended the meeting as the chief guest and invited guest respectively. Besides, Chandra Sing Kro, president, Karbi Cultural Society (KCS), Thong Teron, general secretary elsewhere KNLF outfit organisation and many cultural distinguished persons were present.

Hemari Tokbi, Deputy Director, explained the objective of the meeting. He highlighted the various facilities available in the Cultural Affairs department. Dhaneswar Ingti, joint secretary of KAAC addressed the closing ceremony of Karbi traditional drum beating training-cum-workshop.

On the other hand, attending as chief guest in the closing ceremonial function EM for Art & Culture Affairs Department, KAAC, Bidya Sing Rongpi urged the upcoming Karbi youths who participated in the workshop to take a proactive role in the field of culture.
