Measles rubella vaccination prog in Dima Hasao from Aug 17

HAFLONG, Aug 9 - A meeting on launching of measles rubella vaccination programme, a long-felt demand in Dima Hasao district, was held in the office of the Joint Director, Health and Medical Services, Haflong, chaired by Naresh Ghosh, Principal Secretary, North Cachar Hills Autonomous Council, Haflong.

The meeting unanimously agreed that the planning for measles rubella vaccination programme has to be 100 per cent successful with an aim to cover each child in the age group of 9 months to 15 years so as to achieve a measles rubella free district.

In this regard, 1,236 session sites have been chalked out throughout the district. All government health centres shall continuously vaccinate and that includes civil hospitals, sub centres and PHCs.

The vaccination shall commence from school levels and development block levels. The programme will also cover private institutions and non-school going children.

After prolonged discussion, the date of launching the programme was fixed for August 17, and that will continue for a month till the end of the vaccination programme.

For success of the programme, all line departments have been requested to maintain close cooperation.

It has also been conveyed that a large number of children were given measles rubella vaccination in government health centres in place of measles vaccination due to non-availability of the same and that there was nothing to worry about the vaccination.

The programme was attended by M Changsan, additional director in-charge, Health & Medical Services, Dr Dipali Barman, Joint Director, Health & Medical Services, Dr Kalpana Kemprai, Superintendent, Haflong Civil Hospital, Dr Lina Hakmaosa, SDM&HO, Haflong, Deputy Director, Social Welfare Department and other representatives from various departments, police and media persons, NGOs and others.
