Maximum benefits to poorer section during BJP rule: Saikia

UDALGURI, June 29 - �The BJP-led governments, both at the Centre and in the State, have been trying their level best to make the poorer sections of society get the maximum benefits and we claim that during last four years under the skilled and able leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi we have been able to reach the target which was not achieved in last 70 years since Independence.� This was stated by Binanda Saikia, MLA of Sipajhar LAC here at BJP party office in Udalguri on Wednesday.

Addressing mediapersons of the district, Saikia presented a detailed report card of the Sonowal-led government in the State and said that with the blessings of people of the State, everything is going on in the right track of development. He referred to various completed, ongoing and future action plans and projects of the State government as well as the Union government.

Referring to various projects implemented in Udalguri district, Saikia informed that an amount of Rs 15 crore has been sanctioned to complete the Udalguri-Bhairabkunda PWD road under the BADP scheme and soon the road construction will be completed. In the same way, the Asian Development Bank (ADB) has sanctioned an amount of Rs 289 crore to complete the ongoing Udalguri Tamulpur State Highway and the construction is now going on a war footing.

The BJP leader also said that a total of 413 PMGSY roads in Udalguri district along with 68 RCC bridges will be completed within 2018. Moreover, an amount of Rs 31 crore has been sanctioned to complete the Udalguri Sapkati-Bhakatpara road under the NLCPR.

He, however, admitted that the Health and Public Health Engineering departments in the district are not up to the mark and the government will take an initiative to solve these problems very soon.

The press meet was also attended by Kartick Chandra Boro and Ajay Hazarika, president and secretary of Udalguri district committee of BJP.
