KOKRAJHAR, June 16 � The problem of waterlogging in the Kokrajhar municipal area due to poor and improper drainage system and haphazard growth of township has taken a serious turn. Since the last one week, normal downpours have left several areas here submerged under water.
A heavy downpour on Wednesday and Thursday this week flooded areas like Tengapara, Santinagar, Subhaspally, Bidhanpally, Gaurnagar, Mijingnagar, Bagansali and Narabari while most bylanes in Thanapara area remained under knee-deep water. Main roads like JD Road, Police Point and Hanuman Mandir area are also under water, making it difficult to do any business transaction. Water entered homes in Tengapara, Subashpally, Gaurnagar and Santinagar, Bagansali, Mijingnagar and other areas.
The citizens of Kokrajhar town pointed out that unless the city�s main drain is declogged and cleared, stormwater drainage would continue to pose a problem.
