NAGAON, Dec 16 - A massive anti Citizenship (Amendment) Act 2019 (CAA) torchlight rally was taken out from Nagaon�s Nehrubali towards Dimaruguri Tiniali throughout the heart of the small city by thousands of people of Nagaon this evening.
Journalists, artists, writers and litterateurs, district bodies of the AASU, AJYCP, KMSS, Nagaon district committee of AGP, Nagaon Bengali Sanmilani, Nagaon Mauwari Sanmilani, Nagaon Sikh Samaj, senior conscious citizens took part in the rally and registered a strong protest against the Act, renting the air with various slogans.
During the stir, the agitators reiterated that they will never accept the Act and will continue their fight act until it is withdrawn.
Notably, the district administration, just ahead of the torchlight rally, shut down all commercial establishments on both sides of the old NH-37 in the heart of the town through which the rally was taken out.
Earlier, the district unit of the AJYCP today staged a strong sit-in protest against CAA in front of Nagaon Swahid Bhavan and demanded its immediate withdrawal.
