Massive eviction drive in Dulung Reserve Forest

NORTH LAKHIMPUR, Dec 9 - The Lakhimpur district Forest department launched a massive eviction drive at Dulung Reserve Forest pulling down structures constructed by the Arunachal Pradesh Tourism department on Friday.

The eviction drive was led by Lakhimpur district administration along with the district Forest department to check the continuous encroachment by the neighbouring State. The Arunachal Pradesh State Tourism department had constructed a tourist resort inside Dulung Reserve Forest and didn�t remove it despite many complaints made by Lakhimpur district administration.

Five houses, a boundary wall and an entrance gate of the tourist resort were demolished in the eviction drive. Lakhimpur Deputy Commissioner Barun Bhuyan, Superintendent of Police Sudhakar Singh and District Forest Officer Dr B Vasanthan were present during the eviction drive.
