Mass rally against killing of Lafikul Islam in Kokrajhar

KOKRAJHAR, Aug 18 - Demanding immediate arrest and exemplary punishment of the culprits involved in the brutal killing of ABMSU president Lafikul Islam Ahmed on August1 last, the All BTC Minority Students Union (ABMSU) and 17 other organisations including the students� body today took out a mass rally in Kokrajhar town.

The mass rally organised by ABMSU was supported by AASU, ABSU, AKRSU, AASA, AAGSU, AJYCP and many other organisations. The mass rally started from 11 am from Rashmela field, Kokrajhar and ended at the Deputy Commissioner Office here.

Many ABMSU activists including supporters of various organisations participated in the rally with different banners and posters and also shouted slogans. They also submitted a memorandum with various demands to the Governor of Assam through the Deputy Commissioner of Kokrajhar.

Ali Azam Sk, president ABMSU, Kwrwmdao Wary, assistant general secretary, ABSU, Naba Jyoti Roy, assistant general secretary, AASU, Matior Rahman, AAGYCP, Pradip Roy, president, AKRSU, Som Soren, publicity secretary AASAA, Naba Kumar Sarania, MP, Kokrajhar, Sahakamal Khandakar, secretary, ABMSU among others also joined the rally.

In the memorandum the student�s bodies demanded immediate arrest and exemplary punishment of the culprits involved into the brutal killing incident of ABMSU president Lafikul Islam Ahmed, to initiate CBI inquiry immediately, immediate suspension of Superintendent of Police Kokrajhar, necessary steps to check all kinds of syndicates, to ensure safety and security of lives and properties of common people in BTAD as well as in Assam.

Later talking to mediapersons ABMSU secretary Sahakamal Khandakar said if government fails to fulfill their demands within seven days than they will be compelled to launch a series of vigorous mass movement.
