By Correspondent

DHUBRI, May 2 - In a bid to curb the rising incidents of violence against women in Dhubri district, the youths and police here have joined hands to create mass awareness among the common people against this social evil.

Arro Kotto, a Goalpariya street drama, was staged at different places of the district by the members of the youth biking group Riding Maniac in association with the Dhubri police.

The drama, widely appreciated by the people of the district, beautifully portrayed different aspects of crimes against women, its effects on the society and children, and steps to be taken to curb the menace.

The group members along with police took out a rally from Dhubri to Alamganj via Gauripur, displaying placards to create awareness among people.

If we go through figures and numbers, such crimes in the district are increasing at an alarming rate, said Md Ziaur Rahman, president of Riding Maniac, adding, we, the educated youths of the society, should take the onus on our shoulders to check such crimes.

Meanwhile, different youth organisations, students from BN College, Dhubri Girls College, Dhubri Law College and many other institutions recently took out a candle march here, condemning the rise in incidents of rape in the district.

Youth movements have brought many positive changes in the society and this time, we have come forward to check such crimes, said Kazi Mahmadul Hassan, representing the youths who took part in the candle march.

By spreading mass awareness against this social evil, we can completely eradicate it, Hassan added.
