GUWAHATI, Jan 28 - The State along with the rest of the State will observe Martyrs� Day on January 30 in memory of those who gave their lives in the struggle for India�s freedom.
In this connection, the district and subdivisional administrations will observe Martyrs� Day as in the previous years. A two-minute silence will be observed at 11 am while movement of vehicles will be stopped for two minutes at 11 am on the day, an official release said.
For the commencement and termination of the two-minute silence, sirens will be sounded from 10:59 am till 11 am. After the two-minute silence is over, all-clear sirens will be sounded again from 11:02 am till 11:03 am.
The occasion will be observed by all educational institutions in the State and public sector enterprises by conducting speeches and talks connected with the significance of the day.
Field publicity units of the State will hold programmes and films or documentaries with the basic themes of freedom movement. Various chambers of commerce and industry in the State will ensure proper observance of Martyrs� Day, it added.
