Marak criticises BJP

By Correspondent

TURA, June 4 - Continuing the tirade against the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) after his resignation from the party former rebel turned politician, Bernard N Marak, once again hit out against the BJP calling the agenda of the party as divisive.

The former rebel also claimed that it was not the BJP but the Garos of the region who were protecting the interests of the Hindu community in the region.

For ages, it is Garos and not BJP who protected the interests of the Hindu communities in Garo Hills. The BJP was not there when Hindu communities had difficult time settling Tura Samshan Ghat or when their names were deleted from the electoral roll, said Bernard.

The former BJP member added that the BJPs agenda should not be allowed to grow in Garo Hills.

It will have communal repercussions among the small communities of Garo Hills. Garos are friends of Hindus, and are duty bound towards them as they live in the Hills of the Garos. BJP has proved its anti Garo stand and their hidden agenda will leave many non Garos homeless in Garo Hills, he alleged.

The controversial bitchi-beef festival to mark three years of the BJP Government was according to Bernard a traditional way of celebration. He alleged that it was also a way to gauge if the BJP was anti Garo or not.

They tried to impose an unethical ban on beef in our land hurting the sentiments of the Garos, remarked the leader.
