KOKRAJHAR, April 5 - During a hectic poll preparedness campaign initiated by the Kokrajhar district administration, many of the polling stations have been identified as troublesome for which the security lineup has been entrusted to look into the various category of polling stations in the two election districts of Kokrajhar.
According to official sources, the Kokrajhar election district comprising 30-Kokrajhar East (ST) LAC has 81 sensitive with 46 very sensitive polling stations, 86 comparatively safe and 48 number of critical polling stations out of a total 213 polling stations in this LAC.
Again in the Gossaigaon election district, out of a total 427 polling stations 218 polling stations have been earmarked for the 28-Gossaigaon LAC and 209 polling stations for 29-Kokrajhar West (ST) LAC. Out of this 427 polling stations, 197 have been identified as critical in Gossaigaon election district.
Meanwhile, the total number of voters in 30-Kokrajhar East (ST) LAC is 1,65,022 with 82,141 male and 82,881 female voters.
In Gossaigaon election district, out of a total of 1,66,711 voters in 28-Gossaigaon LAC, 86,060 are male and 80,071 are female voters and others five while out of a total of 1,59,496 electors in 29 Kokrajhar (ST) 82,533 are male and 76,957 are female and others six.
According to official sources all the 213 polling stations of 30-Kokrajhar East LAC have been divided into five zones. At the same time all this polling stations have been brought under 18 sectors.
Meanwhile beside the existing forces, additional 51 companies of CRPF and other security forces will be deployed in Kokrajhar district for conducting free and fair election, the sources added.
Further, official sources have also informed that brisk preparation has been activated for which different cells have been set up including awareness campaigns, training programme, road mapping etc., while the overall security system has been beefed up.
For the first time under the initiative of SP Kokrajhar, the district administration has also prepared LAC-wise thematic map indicating different polling stations, police stations, hospitals, roads, sand bars, rivers, forest coverage etc.
