This Puja is a symbol of unity between the Assamese and Bengali communities of Nagaon.
The century-old Puranigudam community Durga Puja is also another centre of attraction in Nagaon where the same idols are worshipped every year. Besides this, the people of the area have been arranging book fairs for the last few years with the motto, Give the children a book instead of a toy gun.
