Manipur virus toll rises to 336

IMPHAL, Dec 19 - Manipur registered two more COVID-19 deaths today.

�In the last 24 hours, a 76-year-old male from Imphal West district and a 75-year-old male from Senapati district expired at the RIMS Hospital, stated Dr Kh Sahseekumar, Additional Director of the Manipur Health Department stated in a press release. The cumulative number of virus deaths in the State is now 336.

Meanwhile, 56 persons, including 21 females from the general population and two security personnel were confirmed positive for COVID-19 in the past 24 hours, the release added.

The new cases have been reported from Imphal West, Imphal East, Thoubal, Churachandpur, Senapati and Tamenglong. All are local residents without any significant travel history.

In the past 24 hours, 141 persons, including 113 under home isolation, were also discharged from seven COVID care facilities following their recovery.

The COVID-19 tally of the State has reached 27,598 in the State, while the active and recovered cases stand at 1,750 and 25,512 respectively. The recovery rate is 92.44 per cent.
