Manipur to launch new education scheme for poor children

By Correspondent

IMPHAL, March 11 - Manipur Government is planning to launch an education scheme for children of financially weak families by March 15. Under the scheme, the State Government would bear all expenses for books, admission fees and uniform for the poor students reading in Class IX and X.

This was informed by Chief Minister N Biren Singh during the inauguration of a Primary Health Centre with staff quarters and a Rural Market Shed at Tumukhong Moirangpurel in Imphal East district recently.

The scheme is being taken up following the report of school dropouts in the State due to poverty. The objective of the new scheme is to help children of financially weak families to complete matriculation since the minimum qualification for Government employment in the State is Class X pass.
