Manipur to host global youth meet

IMPHAL, Jan 7 � Manipur would be hosting the Global Youth Meet (GYM) 2014 from February 20 to 25 next.

The Club 25 International, Manipur unit, a voluntary blood donation campaigners� body, is the key body in organising the meet with Manipur University and Classic Hotel as the main venues.

�This is one of the first meet of global youths not only in Manipur but also in India,� organising secretary K Karnajit Singh of GYM 2014 claimed.

Around 700 youths from 106 countries across the world will arrive in Imphal to attend the GYM where five awards, namely Global Youth Awards, Best Presenter Award, The Club25 International Award, Best Participant Award and Best Young Blood Donor International Award will be given away, Karnajit said. Union Human Resources Minister Palam Raju will also attend the meet, he said.

The accommodation of the visiting global youths has been arranged at all the available rooms of the hotels and guest houses in and around Imphal, he added.

Karnajit, who has so far donated 17 units of blood and is a key functionary of Club25 International Manipur unit, was instrumental in establishing a UNESCO Youth Foundation complex at Sagoltongba area in Imphal West district.
