Manipur set to launch �Go to Village� mission

IMPHAL, April 5 - The BJP-led coalition Government in Manipur is gearing up to launch its ambitious �Go to Village� mission next month.

�To make the mission successful, a committee will be formed with the Chief Minister as the chairman, the Deputy Chief Minister as the vice chairman, the PWD Minister as the convener, and MLAs as members,� said Chief Minister N Biren Singh.

The Chief Minister was addressing a meeting of top State Government officials and heads of departments here today.

Announcing that there would be an interaction session and meeting on the �Go to Village� mission in Imphal on April 8, Singh stressed that all the Cabinet ministers, administrative secretaries, DCs, departmental heads and other top officials should attend the programme to chalk out plans.

The Chief Minister appealed for cooperation to maintain transparency to help the poor and needy people and bring a positive change to the State. He added that infrastructural mapping of villages would be done soon.

Singh assured that there would be no financial crunch under the �Go to Village� mission to bring about inclusive development in the State.

Calling upon the top officials of the State to coordinate, cooperate and share knowledge among themselves to make the mission successful, the Chief Minister said that agriculture, power, education, health care, etc., would be given priority.

The meeting was attended by Deputy Chief Minister Y Joykumar, other Cabinet ministers, new Chief Secretary Dr Suresh Babu and others.
