IMPHAL, May 2 � Ahongsangbam Mobi, editor of vernacular Sanaleibak daily has been elected the new president of All Manipur Working Journalists� Union (AMWJU) in the Union�s election held at Manipur Press Club premises here yesterday.
Seven other standing committee members were also elected in the day�s election.
Earlier, AMWJU�s annual general body meeting introduced its newly amended �Code of Conduct (local adjustment)� for the media persons in the State. The Code was evolved in June 2005 to safeguard the freedom of press against frequent interference and threat to media by various vested groups including armed groups.
