By Correspondent

IMPHAL, Jan 12 Manipur- based NGO Women Action Development (WAD) has urged the State and Central Government to constitute an independent commission to check and monitor the whole process of surrender of ultras in the State. Stating that many surrendered cadres were involved in recent crimes in the State, WAD secretary Sobita Mangsatabam in a press release here today appealed the government to make public the total strength of surrendered cadres and their placement.

WAD expressed deep concern over luring of seven youths of Heirok village by an anti-social agency by offering jobs jobs and later asked to stage a surrender drama as KYKL-MDF cadres, the release added.

This is a crime against humanity. So far, many underground cadres have surrendered and several home-coming ceremonies were observed to welcome the surrendered cadres with the intention of bringing them back to mainstream, it added. It also urged the government to take immediate action to punish the culprits involved in the Heirok incident.

Meanwhile, the people of Heirok village have urged the State Government for safeguard from anti-social agencies.
