IMPHAL, April 3 - The first-ever Manipur Industrial Expo will begin here with the theme �Make North East for employment generation� at Lamboi Khongnangkhong near here tomorrow while the North East-ASEAN Business Summit will open at City Convention Centre here on April 7.
Manipur Commerce and Industries Minister Govindas Konthoujam made an announcement in this regard here on Saturday.
Briefing media here, the Minister said that the State excels in sports, so why not in industry and other sectors. �No country can develop without industry,� he observed. �Commerce and Industries department is organising the first Industrial Expo in spite of having limited resources.� He called upon the entrepreneurs and students to take the benefits of the upcoming Expo where different programmes on handicrafts, entrepreneurs activities, food processing MSME, sericulture and tourism sector will be conducted.
Chief Secretary Nabakishore urged the student community to visit the Expo and learn how to make use of it in their day to day life.
Launching of Udyog Aadhar Memorandum Mela, Trio Handloom Meet, Skill Fair, inauguration of North East-ASEAN Business Summit, Parallel sessions of North East-ASEAN Business Summit, Regional conference on �Ease of Doing Business�, laying the foundation stones for Industrial Estates, Technology centres of FFDC, Buyer and Seller meet, etc will take place during the Industrial Expo. Besides organising a tour to Loktak lake and Keibul Lamjao National Park, the Jewel Queen Fashion show for the entire North East will also be staged on the closing ceremony of the event.
