Manipur Congress criticises BJP

IMPHAL, Dec 28 - Congress leaders in Manipur on Monday criticised BJP for its alleged failure in taking up developmental schemes. The leaders claimed that during the Congress regime, the entire country witnessed development.

Addressing a meeting organised in connection with the 136th foundation day of the Indian National Congress at the Congress Bhavan in Imphal, newly-appointed president of Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC-I) Govindas Konthoujam alleged that the saffron party has neglected the poor people and the development has come to a grinding halt. �Congress played a pivotal role in bringing in development,� he claimed.

Konthoujam also underscored the need for strengthening the foundation of the party in the days to come. He also appealed to the workers to dedicate for gearing up the party activities.

Senior congress leaders and ex-MLAs who were present in the meeting unanimously advocated strengthening the party.

Former MPCC-I president and ex-MLA M Okendra,sitting MLAs K Ranjit,Kh Joykishan, K Meghachandra,Th Lokeshwar and other party leaders also attended the programme.
