Manipur CM�s private house ransacked

IMPHAL, June 16 � Unidentified miscreants intruded and ransacked the private house of Manipur Chief Minister Okram Ibobi located at Thoubal Athokpam Makha Leikai, about 25 km south of Imphal.

Reports said the ransacking of the house came to light only when the Chief Minister�s wife Okram Landhoni, MLA went to their private home after attending a meeting on Sunday afternoon. While entering the house, the wife saw signs of the house being ransacked.

It is still unclear who and why the house was ransacked. The first floor occupied by Chief Minister O Ibobi and the third floor occupied by son Suraj were found ransacked with the door locks found broken. The incident took place when the family were staying at the CM�s official bungalow in Imphal, the report said.

The CM�s private house at Thoubal was kept locked. Around 30 personnel of India Reserve battalion have been guarding the house but they stayed at the neighbouring CM�s brother Ibotomba�s house. Following the intrusion, the security team posted at the CM�s house has been replaced by a new team from the same battalion, sources said.

Manipur DGP Saheed Ahmed accompanied by IG (L&O) Clay Khongsai, DIG S Ibocha, SP Th Radheshyam rushed to CM�s Thoubal house. Forensic experts have already launched an investigation. However, there is no confirmed report of any missing household items till the filing of the report as police is not ready to give any comment in connection with the incident.

Protest held: A sit-in protest was held today at the office of Council of Higher Secondary Education Manipur at Babupara in protest against the bomb threat at Council Chairman�s residence in Imphal on Sunday.
