IMPHAL,May 10 - Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh today inspected the �Ima Keithel� (mother�s market) in Imphal on the occasion of Mother�s Day.
Visiting the Ima Keithel premises where repairing works are in progress, he said, the market has been playing a vital role.
MLA Th Satyabrata of Yaiskul Assembly constituency, Principal Secretary (MAHUD) Rakesh Ranjan and Director Th Harikumar besides officials of Imphal Municipal Corporation (IMC) were present during the visit of the Chief Minister.
Later speaking to reporters about the traffic congestion in the Thangal, Paona, Khwairamband Keithel and Keishampat to Khoyathong stretch, the Chief Minister appealed to the residents, shopkeepers to park their vehicles properly to avoid traffic congestion. In this context, he gave a brief report on the developmental works carried out by the State government for the people. The Chief Minister also appealed to the people to extend cooperation to the State government in the days to come.
Key functionaries of the women vendors� body of Ima Keithel who were present during the visit, also thanked the authorities concerned for taking up the repairing works. �The reparing works will help to a large extent,� a section of senior members of the body said.
It may be noted that the repairing works at Ima Keithel were taken up by the IMC taking advantage of the ongoing nationwide lockdown since April 22.
