IMPHAL, May 18 - More than 74 per cent students � the highest in the history of Board of Secondary Education, Manipur (BOSEM) conducted High School Leaving Certificate (HSLC) or class X examination since 1973 � cleared the examination, the results of which were declared on Saturday.
The lowest pass percentage in the history of HSLC examination conducted by BOSEM in Manipur was 21 which was recorded in 2002.
A total of 37,138 students, including 18,342 boys and 18,796 girls had appeared in the class X examination conducted from February 20 to March 15 last at 139 board centres.
But a total of 27,740 students including 13,882 boys and 13,858 girls passed the examination this time. The last high pass percentage (73.18) was recorded in 2018.
Bhumika Shamurailatpam of Pitambara English School, Imphal, secured the first position with 570 out of 600 marks. Sophia Asem of Brighter Career Academy, and Arvind Maibam of Tiny Tots� Unique, Imphal, jointly bagged the second position. Each of them secured 567 marks.
Moirangthem Julendia Devi of St Thomas School, Imphal East district bagged the third spot. She secured 566 marks.
Subjects toppers: Ksh Galax of Padma Ratna English School, Kakching (English), B Shene Susan of St Anthony School and Moirangthem Julendia of St Thomas School (Science), Hatminnei Kipgen of Eklavaya model residential school Saparmeina (Commerce), Nongpoknganba Longjam of St Joseph school (Manipuri) and Mehandi Prasad Teli of Th Ushus school, Imphal (Hindi). Interestingly, 11 students scored 100 out of 100 in Maths.
The pass percentage of private schools stood at 82.30 and that of aided schools at 62.07. However, in the government schools, only 53.77 per cent students passed the examination.
State Education Minister Th Radheshyam Singh announced the HSLC results in the presence of BOSEM chairman Th Kirankumar Singh and secretary Dr Ch Mary Thomsas at a press conference at BOSEM office this afternoon.
