Manipur Assembly session from Dec 18

IMPHAL, Dec 5 - Manipur Governor Dr Najma Heptulla has summoned the Ninth Session of the 11th Manipur Legislative Assembly at 11 am on December 18, according to a notification issued by Assembly Secretary M Ramani.

A meeting of the Business Advisory Committee (BAC) of the Assembly is scheduled to be held at 2 pm on December 11 at the office chamber of Assembly Speaker Yumnam Khemchand.

The BAC meeting has been called to discuss time allocation for House business for the ensuing session, sources said.

Audition for �Orange Queen� contest: A screening session for the Orange Queen contest for the upcoming State-level orange festival was held in an Imphal hotel recently. About 18 contestants were selected during the audition.

The Tamenglong district administration will hold the orange festival at Tamenglong, 150 km west of Imphal, under the theme, �Tamenglong Oranges � The Centennial�s Pride� from December 16 to 18.

A sum of Rs 1.5 lakh will be given to the winner of the Orange Queen contest, while the first- and the second runner-up will get Rs 1 lakh and Rs 75,000 respectively.

Six sub-title winners will be awarded Rs 20,000 each, while the best designer will get Rs 30,000, the organisers said.
