JAGIROAD, March 10 - Manikpur Anchalik College emerged champions in the Gauhati University Inter College Volleyball Championship.

In the gruelling final played today at the Jagiroad College play ground here, Manikpur defeated Bimala Prasad Chaliha College, Kamrup 25-16, 25-16, 23-25, 25-23.

Hinur Islam Choudhury of Manikpur Anchalik College was declared as the best player of the final while Noor Alam of BPC College received the best player of the tournament award. Pachim Borigog Anchalik Mahavidyalay, Kamrup secured third position while Pachim Borigog Anchalik Mahavidyalay and Jagiroad College received the encouragement trophies in girls category.

The final match was conducted by Inamul Hussain and Bipin Tamuli. Senior citizens of the area � Munin Borthakur, Sudhir Kr Borthakur, Jagiroad College principal Dr BC Neog were the guests in the closing function and gave away the prizes.

The tournament was organised by the Jagiroad College where 22 teams (both boys and girls) participated.
