Mangaldai PS set to get new building under MOITRI

MANGALDAI, Dec 14 - The Assam Police in a bid to improve its quality of service under the Centrally-sponsored scheme called �Mission for overall improvement of thanas for responsive image�, in short �MOITRI�, has started construction of modern police station buildings in the State.

As a part of this programme, the foundation of the proposed new building of Mangaldai Police Station to be constructed at an estimated cost of nearly Rs 2 crore was laid on Wednesday. The foundation of the proposed double-storied building was ceremonially laid in the present thana campus by Superintendent of Police, Darrang, Sreejith Thiraviam in presence of Additional Superintendent of Police, Darrang Satyajit Nath, Officer-in-Charge of Mangaldai Police Station, Inspector Lohit Chandra Rabha and other senior officials of Darrang police.

The project implemented by Assam Police Housing Corporation (APHC) is expected to get completed within next year. This new police station building will have all infrastructures required for a modern police station like those of other developed towns across the nation including separate cells for children and women, counselling counters, investigation and examination centres, among others.

Mangaldai is one of the 13 police stations in the State in which construction works of the new building will be taken up in the first phase.
