GUWAHATI, Jan 17 - A patrolling team of Chandmari Police Station apprehended one Ayub Ali, 23, last night from Gandhi Basti area here with a big roll of cables used for telecommunication purposes.
Interrogation revealed that Ayub used to steal the cables belonging to the BSNL from near the Assam Engineering Institute playground at Chandmari.
Officer-in-charge of Chandmari Police Station Biren Deka said Ayub was booked under Section 379 of IPC on the basis of a complaint lodged by the BSNL authorities. The accused, who is a resident of Islampur area of the city was sent to jail by the court today.
