Man dies at Manipur quarantine centre

IMPHAL, July 14 - A 40-year-old man having past history of multiple viral infections � who was a resident of Nambol in Bishnupur district and who had returned from Guwahati on July 13 by flight � died at a quarantine centre at Nambol on Monday night, reports said. The Health authorities have sent his samples for a COVID-19 test and the report is awaited.

Meanwhile, in the past 24 hours in Manipur, 46 persons (33 males and 13 females) were confirmed COVID-19 positive at the VRDLs of the Regional Institute of Medical Sciences, Jawaharlal Nehru Institute of Medical Sciences and the SDH laboratory at Jiribam, an official press release stated today.

The total number of positive cases in the State is 1,672. The total numbers of active and recovered cases stand at 652 and 1,020 respectively. The recovery rate is 60 per cent, the release added.

In the past 24 hours, 50 persons were discharged from various COVID Care Centres in the State, the release added.

Meanwhile, the Manipur Health Department has appealed to people to visit the newly launched website, www.manipurcovidstories.org, which features positive and inspiring stories by COVID-19 volunteers.

As of Monday, 3,01,743 persons were screened at various entry points to the State. A total of 64,080 samples were tested for COVID-19, according to the latest report of the State Surveillance Officer of Integrated disease Surveillance Programme, Manipur. As per the report, 54,550 persons have completed their quarantine and 4,606 were still lodged at various quarantine centres in the State.
