JALUKBARI, July 31 - Azara police have booked a middle-aged man for allegedly trying to rape his 17-year-old niece.
The accused, identified as Bijoy Rabha (45), is the girl�s maternal uncle. The incident took place at Matia, Azara yesterday around 9.30 am when the girl was alone at home. But before things could go out of hand, the girl raised an alarm and the neighbours arrived in no time. But Bijoy fled the spot before the people could catch him.
The girl�s parents later lodged an FIR at the Azara Police Station, based on which the police apprehended the accused last night. The accused was today produced before the court and sent to jail.
