GUWAHATI, Sept 24 � The condition of eminent litterateur and academic Mamoni Raisom Goswami took a turn for the worse after which she was put on ventilator support at the Gauhati Medical College Hospital. A team of senior doctors is attending on her and her status has been described as �very critical�.
Official sources in the GMCH mentioned that her condition, which was already serious, worsened after she had a lung infection a few days back. Yesterday at 3 pm she was put on ventilator support.
Dr AK Adhikary, the seniormost member of the team attending on Dr Goswami told The Assam Tribune that her condition is a matter of concern, and she had to be put on ventilator support after her condition deteriorated due to a lung infection. A five-member team of specialists from four departments is monitoring her health status.
It may be mentioned that the noted novelist and academic has been in an unconscious state for several months, and her condition has not shown significant signs of improvement.
The Chief Minister, Tarun Gogoi today visited the hospital at around 9 pm to get a first hand information on the health condition of the litterateaur.
