Mamata vows to oust Left Front from Tripura power in 2018

By The Assam Tribune

AGARTALA, Aug 9 (IANS): Trinamool Congress President and West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee vowed here on Tuesday to oust the Left Front from power in the state in 2018 Tripura assembly elections.

Addressing a gathering at the Vivekananda Stadium, Mamata said: "I would come to Tripura again and again and my entire party leadership will be with the Tripura leadership to defeat the Communist Party of India-Marxist (CPI-M) led Left Front government. Entire Bengal will plunge into Tripura to throw out CPI-M from power."

Banerjee said: "There is no industry in Tripura, there are no good educational institutions or health centres here. Millions of youths are jobless. If TMC comes to power in Tripura, everything will change."

Referring to various schemes, allowances and projects launched by her government in West Bengal, the TMC Chief said that the CPI-M only knows how to conspire against her, loot public money and spread violence.

Mamata also lashed out at Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and made veiled referrences to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), when she said, "BJP only knows how to conduct riot, give advertisements and use agency against us. We do not fear all these things because the people are with us."

Apart from Banerjee, TMC Vice-President Mukul Roy, and her other ministers Firhad Hakim, Arup Biswas and Indranil Sen were present at the rally.
