MAJULI, Feb 14 � Harish Rawat, Union Minister for Water Resources, visited Majuli subdivision today to take stock of the flood and erosion damages here.

He visited the erosion-affected areas of Salmora. Later, addressing a public gathering at Salmora, he said that the Central Government would take proper measures to check erosion and protect the river island.

Asserting that the Government would leave no stone unturned to save Majuli from flood and erosion, Rawat said that it should be possible to control the flood and erosion problem created by the mighty Brahmaputra with advanced technology. He said that necessary funds would be released for permanent protection of the island. Ranee Narah, Union Minister, Rajib Lochan Pegu, State Minister of Water Resources, among others, accompanied Rawat during his visit.
