Major rejig in State police administration

GUWAHATI, Dec 12 - As the situation in the State deteriorated in the wake of the passing of the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill in Parliament, the State government has effected a major rejig in the police administration giving the charge of ADG (Law and Order) to GP Singh who returned from Central deputation today.

GP Singh will replace Mukesh Agarwal who has been posted as ADG (Border).

As stray incidents of violence continued in the city, Police Commissioner Deepak Kumar was shunted out and the charge given to Munna Prasad Gupta. IGP Gupta, who was holding the post of IGP (T&AP) was only yesterday given the additional charge of IGP (STF & Prosecution). Commissioner Deepak Kumar has been transferred and posted as ADGP (T&AP) and (STF).

Four DCPs of the Guwahati commissionerate were also transferred.

DCP (Central) Ripul Das has been transferred and posted as SP Udalguri. SP (Vigilance & Anti-corruption) Nilesh Sawakare has been posted as DCP (West) in place of Khanindra Kumar Choudhury. DCP (Central) Ranjan Bhuyan has been posted as DCP (Traffic) replacing Prasanta Saikia who has been shifted to border headquarters.

Principal of PTC, Dergaon Jitmal Doley has been posted as Jorhat SP replacing NV Chandrakant. SP (SB) Dr Dhananjay Ghanawar has been posted as Dhemaji SP, while Commandant of 4th APBn Subashini Shankaran will be the new DCP (East) in Guwahati.

Dima Hasao SP Sreejith T has been transferred to Dibrugarh replacing Gautam Bora who has been posted as Commandant of 4th APBn. G Abhijit Dilip has been posted as Dima Hasao SP.
