DULIAJAN, April 26 � The inaguration of the 2nd All Assam Major Ranking table tennis tournament was held at the Nehru Maidan here with a condolence ceremony in memory of Bhaskar Neog, eminent table tennis player and organiser and Nibir P Gogoi, budding table tennis player. The chief guestson the occasion were Binanda Deka, ggm (P) OIL and Bhupendra Borpatra Gohain, md, Assam Gas Company Ltd.
A total of 10 district with around 250 players are taking part in the championship. Competitions will be conducted in cadet, sub-junior, junior, youth, senior and veterans category for both male and female.
The chief refree of the tournament is Gobinda Upadhaya (Ghy) and he will be assisted by Biman Kr Bhagawati (Sivasagar). As per the guideline of Table Tennis Federation of India, the new age bar of the players upto youth category will be implemented in the three-day State level meet for the first time.
