Maj Gen Ananta Bhuyan becomes GOC

GUWAHATI, June 11 - Major General Ananta Bhuyan, an alumunus of Sainik School, Goalpara recently took over the command of a Mountain Division located in the North East. He is the fourth General Officer from Sainik School, Goalpara. This was stated in a press release.

General Bhuyan has during his long service served in various parts of the country including at Siachen Glacier and in the challenging insurgency theatres of Jammu & Kashmir and Assam. He has twice been awarded with the Army Chief�s Commendation Card and the prestigious Sena Medal.

It may be mentioned that apart from General Bhuyan, Assam can take pride in the fact that three more Army officers from the State have had the honour of becoming General Officers (or equivalent), including Air Marshal Anjan Gogoi, Lieutenant General PK Bharali and Major General Apurba Bardalai. Two more � Lt Gen KH Singh and Lt Gen LN Singh (both from Manipur) are serving Generals.
