Maiden show of Jugasandhi at drama festival

By Staff Reporter

GUWAHATI, Sept 14 - As part of the ongoing Brajanath Sarma Drama Festival, Samahar Natya Gosthee presented the maiden show of Jugasandhi written and directed by Dr Sitanath Lahkar at the Rabindra Bhawan last evening.

The play is based on a rich cultural element, Ojapali, which is fading into oblivion nowadays. The play beautifully showcased the clash between modern and folk cultural elements, represented respectively by Rock and Ojapali. The lyrical play ended with a clarion call by Ojapali for its survival, whereas the Rock band accepted the inherent beauty in the folk element.

Later this evening, Natmandal from Pathsala, Barpeta, presented Sunaha Bishnu Rabha Sangbad, written and directed by Nitul Kumar Medhi. The satirical play talks about extortion being carried out by a section of people in the name of observing Rabha Divas. Rabha himself appears in the play and does some funny and mischievous works to stop the misuse of his name by unscrupulous elements.
