GUWAHATI, Aug 17 - Governor PB Acharya will inaugurate the closing function of the year-long birth centenary celebration of eminent scholar Professor Maheswar Neog at Rabindra Bhawan at 4.30 pm on September 7, a press release issued here said.

The closing function lecture, on �Aphasia, the future of memory� will be delivered by the noted literary critic and activist Prof Ganesh N Devy, formerly Professor of English at the MS University of Baroda and is the founder director of the Bhasha Research and Publication Centre, Vadodara and Adivasi Academy at Tejgadh, Gujarat.

Prof Devy led the People�s Linguistic Survey of India in 2010, which has researched and documented 780 living lndian languages.

Prof Nirmal Kumar Choudhury, former Vice-Chancellor of the Gauhati University, will release a volume titled Maheswar Neog (1915-1995): A Centenary Volume. The volume, consisting of three parts with a general introduction by Dr Kapila Vatsyayan, would include valuable studies on the many aspects of Prof Neog.
