GUWAHATI, May 23 - The Assam Sanmilita Mahasangha today sent memoranda to the Prime Minister and the Home Minister urging stringent economic sanctions against Bangladesh until the neighbouring country takes back all its people who have illegally migrated to India and settled down in the country. To mount pressure on Bangladesh to concede to this demand, India should scrap all the treaties signed with that country, said the Mahasangha in its memorandum.
The three-day token fast observed by the Mahasangha here since May 21 on the demand for providing all sorts of safeguard to the indigenous peoples of the State, came to an end today.
