GUWAHATI, July 25 � Maharana Athletic Club posted an emphatic 11-1 victory against Jewel Star Club in their Jibeswar Goswami GSA A Division Football League.
In the other match of the opening day, Sports Authority of India (SAI) Sports Club were held 2-2 by Rajbari Athletic Club.
On the first ground of the Nehru Stadium here today, Maharana opened the sluice gate in the 10th minute when Rameswar Boro struck from a close range.
After that the Jewel boys virtually gave up and left easy passage for the Maharana strikers. Janshar Daimary and Wilson Deuri netted three goals each while Mahabir Ekka fired two. Rameswar, Swarang Basumatary and Rupa Boro scored one each.
For SAI, Wilson Gante scored both the goals while L Vijayananda and N Vicky Singh netted one goal each.
