TIHU, sept 24 - Maharana Athletic Club of Guwahati emerged champions in the Tarun Dutta, Satish Haloi and Madan Sarma Memorial Football Tournament defeating IRBn, Charaimari 2-0 in the final at the Makhibaha High School playground today.

Basanta Baro and Mridul of Maharana found the back of the net in the 24th and 78th minute respectively. Basanta Baro was adjudged the best player of the final match while Pabin Baro of IRBn walked away with the best goalkeeper award. Sumit Khakhlari of Maharana was awarded the best defender award while MN Halong of Maharana was adjudged the best midfielder.

The champion team received the Tarun Dutta memorial trophy along with a cash award of Rs 20,000 while IRBn receieved a cash award of Rs 15,000 along with the runners-up trophy. The final match was formally inaugurated by Pabindra Deka, MLA, Patacharkuchi LAC.
